PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

Dr. Vincent Dortch is a dedicated advocate for adolescent health and community empowerment, serving as a key figure at Good Deeds Now. In collaboration with the Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. Dortch leads the federally funded Health Equity for All Teens (H.E.A.T.) program, supported by the Office of Population Affairs (OPA). This initiative is committed to enhancing adolescent health outcomes across Georgia.

Under Dr. Dortch’s leadership, the H.E.A.T. program partners with schools, community-based organizations, and faith-based institutions statewide to implement the “Be Proud! Be Responsible!” curriculum. This evidence-based program educates teens on personal responsibility, aiming to reduce rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. The curriculum is adaptable, offering flexible scheduling to meet the diverse needs of participating groups.

Dr. Dortch’s efforts have led to successful collaborations with numerous educational and community organizations, including schools in DeKalb County such as Miller Grove High and Middle Schools, Martin Luther King Jr. High School, Redan High School, Salem Middle School, and Drew Charter School. These partnerships have been instrumental in delivering impactful interventions to adolescents, fostering healthier communities.

Beyond his work with Good Deeds Now, Dr. Dortch has a rich history of community involvement. Born in Pensacola, Florida, he embraced his faith early on and was active in church activities. His passion for youth mentorship began during his high school years and continued through his time at Alabama State University, where he frequently engaged in speaking engagements within his hometown and neighboring communities.

Dr. Dortch’s unwavering commitment to empowering youth and strengthening families continues to drive the mission of Good Deeds Now, as the organization strives to build brighter futures for communities throughout Georgia.
